We are on day two of no breastfeeding. I guess this means the boys are "weaned," but I hesitate to use that word in case I just cave and start breastfeeding again. Also my body hasn't completely gotten the message, so I still have a little milk. So maybe in another week or so I will actually say my boys are "weaned." :)
I am surprised by how sad I am that this chapter of parenting my twins is over. The boys were definitely ready to be done, they were only nursing once a day, right before bedtime, and those sessions were only a few minutes long before the boys got distracted and wanted down. They didn't even notice when I took away that last session, they were perfectly content with their sippy cups of milk and their bed time stories.
But I'm not sure Momma was quite so ready. It makes my heart ache thinking how they are not babies anymore, and they don't NEED me at quite the same level.
I told Alan I may just have to nurse them in the morning, and he just signed and rolled his eyes at me :)
Here are the boys and me at Fossil Rim yesterday... such big guys. (Adam on the left, Matthew on the right.)

Hi I have been reading all your blogs as I am expecting twin boys in feb! So youre an inspiration. I wanted to know if you always breast fed them at the same time to keep a routine or did you do them one at a time? I want to be able to do them at the same time if possible.. Look forward to your reply!
Congrats on your twins! We almost always tandem fed, except for a few exceptions. They were great nursers from the start, but in the hospital I fed them one at a time because we were all getting used to it. That almost killed me because they were eating every 2 hours, and they would eat for 45min-1hr at a time, each... so you can see how much time that left for me to do things like sleep :) That was the main reason we tandem breastfed, there was really no other choice! Also at night I would wake the other twin up when one woke up, so that I would be guaranteed (as much as was possible) to get a little block of sleep. BUT, some times when there was someone around to help, I would breastfeed just one at a time because it is nice to get that on-on-one cuddling in once in a while :)
Every baby/set of twins is different, but I hope that helps a little!
Yes thank you!! I get so excited when i read all your blogs & see your pictures of your boys. I am 23 but totally ready for this. I know it will be hard at first but it will be worth it!!
I just found your blog, searching for beautiful breastfeeding photos. I was happy to read all of your twin nursing posts and wish there were more. Congrats on a wonderful nursing experience with your boys! I don't have twins myself but I do tandem my 2 1/2 year old with my 11 month old so I can sort of imagine what you must have gone through, except mine were at different developmental phases and one was able to latch by herself without my help. Anyway, thanks for sharing your story!
